When a person passes away, according to common Sikh rituals the Antam Sankar (Last Rites) are preformed in the presence of relatives.
As per the request of concerned family, OKD Gurdwara Sahib arranges a Granthi Singh(Preacher) to go along with family to the funeral homes to do the last rites. Sukhmani Sahib path will be read, as well as Kirtan Sohila and Antim Ardas (Last Prayer) according to Sikh rituals.
Following the cremation, the family goes to the Gurdwara where Bhog of Akhand Paath Sahib or Sehaj Paath Sahib done, Alahniya Da Paath, followed by kirtan and Ardas.

According to Sikh common faith (but not particulary prescribed in Sikh Rehat Maryada-The Sikh Code of Conduct) when a family member passes away, the ashes are supposed to disperse in the running water.
